The Escoffier School of Culinary Art recognized the need to connect students and graduates with job opportunities and also to provide them with tools and guidance to navigate diverse culinary career paths effectively.
EConnect needed to be intuitive, responsive, and personalized to individual student goals. So, we designed a clean, sortable, industry specific job board with backend tools for admins to monitor students applying and landing jobs.
As we developed the product, stakeholders gave additional requirements to enable posting different types of jobs, highlight individual companies and jobs and pull in additional jobs from external sources.
But that was the job board. It needed to be MORE than an job board.

Career Path
While we built the job board, we conducted thorough research, studying trends in the culinary industry to understand job market demands, and identify common career trajectories. This helped us gather insights into their career aspirations, challenges faced during job searches, and the types of tools they would find most beneficial.
The research led us to the creation of the culinary personality quiz and career path tool. The quiz asked users questions to determine what career track would be best for them to follow. That led them to their personalized culinary path , a subway-style map of common career steps to reach that goal as well as a list of the need skills associated skills that position. The map was cross-referenced with the user profile to show what steps and skills are lacking to make it to their dream job.
